Petrochemical products are derived by petroleum by using distillation process. All types of petrochemicals are extracted by large oil refineries. These chemical compounds include alkenes (olefins), synthetic gas and aromatic products. Olefins are the key compounds to produce polymers, resins, fibers, lubricants and elastomers. Whereas, aromatics are used to add aroma in detergents, soaps, solvents and adhesives.
